Keep Your Board in Top Shape: Essential Maintenance Tips for Your Inflatable SUP

You’ve invested in a high-quality inflatable paddle board, and the adventures have been amazing. To ensure your board provides years of reliable fun, a little post-paddle care goes a long way. Proper maintenance not only extends the life of your board but also ensures its safety and performance every time you hit the water. Neglecting simple steps like cleaning and proper storage can lead to material degradation and unnecessary wear and tear.

After each use, the most critical step is to rinse your board thoroughly with fresh water, especially after paddling in saltwater. Salt and sand can be abrasive and can degrade the PVC material and deck pad over time. Pay special attention to the valve area to ensure it’s free of debris. Before storing, let your board dry completely in a shaded area. Storing a board while it’s still wet can lead to mold and mildew, which can damage the material and create unpleasant odors.

For long-term storage, you have two options: rolled or partially inflated. If rolling, ensure it’s a loose roll to avoid creating hard creases. Store it in its bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, which can damage the seams and PVC. By following these simple tips, your inflatable board will be ready for your next adventure whenever you are. Need a repair kit or cleaning accessories? Check out our accessories page.
